Location: Alexandria, VA
Responsibilities
•Maintain primary oversight of the organization’s domestic and international humanitarian projects, activities and partnerships
•Foster existing relations with governmental, nonprofit and community organizations; identify new opportunities with prospective supporters and collaborators
•Develop and implement diverse strategies to meet and exceed the organization’s program targets
•Ensure all program activity complies with the organization’s policies, procedures and operational practices
•Act as a public representative of the organization, attending events, initiating contacts and delivering presentations to public and private audiences where necessary
•Direct and supervise department leaders for both domestic and international programs
•Aid in the preparation of yearly budgets and goals for each department; ensure budget compliance and annual objectives are met on a quarterly basis
•Collaborate with the Vice President of Fund Development, Chief Financial Officer, and Vice President Support Operations to identify problematic areas within the organization, make recommendations and offer solutions to the CEO
•Submit monthly proposals and reports to the CEO
•Analyze, develop and implement department polices and procedures
•Stay informed about security, political developments and humanitarian needs around the world
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree preferred
•7+ years of previous related work experience required
•Must have experience with managing all aspects of domestic and international programs for a nonprofit organization
•Should have familiarity with grants and financial assistance programs
•Must possess highly effective leadership qualities to manage both onsite and offsite department leaders; ensure interdepartmental communication
•Should have demonstrated knowledge of effective staff-development techniques
•Experience with budgetary and fiscal controls required
•Should be highly resourceful, creative and flexible
•Must be able to work effectively under pressure and strict deadlines
•Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally
•Mastery of the English language; excellent written and oral communication skills are essential
•Multilingual a plus
•Must have the ability to execute professional, public presentations
•Should have cultural competence in a wide variety of ethnicities
•Motivated and committed to humanitarian ideology required
•Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
•Must be eligible to work in the United States
