POST:Logistics and Planning Manager

Summary:

The person we are looking for should be able to manage the project of transferring our production from the current location, Dar Tanzania to Kenya. The person will be responsible for planning (production forecasting and production scheduling, supervising and overseeing contract performance by 3rd party manufacturer, stock control, distribution within East Africa, purchasing, costing, warehousing etc)

The job will first be on a 1 year contract that will later be made permanent to the employee based on his competence and performance within this one year.

Description:
  • Set up quality improvement and KAIZEN programs following European targets
  • Implement budget as well as quality improvement and KAIZEN programs
  • Follow up on budget and quality improvement and KAIZEN achievement and report results to European Operations organisation
  • Identify unfavourable deviations to budget/ quality improvement/ KAIZEN and take corrective actions
  • Manage existing fixed assets and implement approved capital expenditures
  • Ensure the use of all company policies & procedures (e.g. Code of conduct, BPCM) and acting in line with external legal requirements
  • Support the European purchasing and logistic strategy and actions through the local organisations
  • Build up and maintain clear communication and close co-operation with all relevant internal (e.g. Divisions, R&D, Operations) and external (e.g. suppliers, unions, local authorities) interfaces
  • Lead employees in the area of responsibility in agreement with supervisor (individual development, motivation, assessment and feedback)
  • Liaising with a variety of parties including suppliers of raw materials, manufacturers, retailers and consumers
    Coordinate transportation of goods, stock control, warehousing, and ensuring structures are in place to monitor the flow of goods and materials.
  • Monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods;
  • Forecasting stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and performance evaluation of suppliers.
  • Coordinating and controlling the order cycle and associated information systems;
  • Analyzing data to monitor performance and plan improvements and demand;
  • Allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs;
  • Liaising and negotiating with customers and suppliers;
  • Developing business by gaining new contracts, analyzing logistical problems and producing new solutions.
  • Implementing health and safety procedures;
  • Project planning and management;
Requirements:
  • Be below 45 years
  • University degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science or related degree
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience in a related industry (chemical, food/beverage) with IT knowledge in accounting and logistics packages.
