Systems Administrator
Center for Global Development, an independent, nonprofit policy research organization located in Dupont Circle, is currently seeking an IT Systems Administrator.
Under the supervision of the IT Manager, the IT Systems Administrator provides support for all aspects of the information technology infrastructure in accordance with organizational policies and goals. The Systems Administrator will ensure proper functioning of company's information processing systems and make upgrades as necessary. Keeps phone system, computer equipment, hardware and software updated to meet organizational needs. Candidate should be familiar with a variety of industry concepts, practices and procedures. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for planning, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of LAN.
• Ensure secure access and protect against unauthorized modification or destruction.
• Responsible for the overall planning, design, installation, maintenance of all network hardware, server services, SAN storage and multiple databases.
• Improves desktop software processes and supports development, installation, vendor selection, maintenance and repair of servers, desktops and distributed printers. Recommends and schedules repairs. Occasional Night and weekend work is expected to minimize interruption.
• Evaluates new information systems products or services and suggests changes to existing products or services to better aide staff.
• Responsible for all levels of workstation support.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Management Information Systems and a minimum of three years of professional experience.
• Certifications of extended learning in Information Technology such as MCSA, MCSE and MCITP with comparable professional work experience can fulfill educational requirements.

• Terminal Services Remote Access
• Firewall administration
• Windows XP and Office 2007/2003
• Workstation cloning technologies and resource kit deployments
• VERITAS disaster recovery planning, RAID/Fault tolerance technologies
