Background / General description:
This position is located in Hong Kong. The Global Manufacturing and Services (GMS) Department within the Real Sector Cluster (also including Agribusiness and Health and Education) is seeking a Senior Investment Officer to undertake business development in East Asia Pacific with a focus on deal generation for the Global Manufacturing and Services side of the Cluster. The primary sectors comprising GMS activity are: Tourism, Retail and Property; Energy Efficient Machinery; Forest Products; and Building Materials, Glass and Metals. The Department also has active climate change, life sciences and small direct investment programs. The person in this position will have a primary reporting line to the Real Sector Cluster manager but will also report to the regional head of office.

Duties and Accountabilities:
The primary responsibility of the Senior Investment Officer will be to identify and source viable investment projects which maximize development impact as well as project sustainability and profitability across the region, working in concert with colleagues in the region and across the Cluster. This work will include, but will not be limited to: - Developing and executing a strategy for business development through mapping, industry analysis and client engagement with the objective of building a robust pipeline and including a healthy familiarity with regional portfolio holdings and repeat investment prospects. This includes developing and maintaining relationships throughout the business community to generate leads and deals. - Screening/clearing proposals for concept review and preparing or overseeing the preparation of concept review notes with a key focus on overall credit assessment and deal structuring. - Maintaining an involvement in designated GMS sector networks. - Acting as Client Relationship Manager for key sector clients – especially those who are regional or global clients. - Mentoring junior staff. - Managing projects through processing and in doing so¸ ensuring a clear focus on credit assessment, deal structuring and risk mitigation including coordination with relevant portfolio managers. Also ensuring that Corporate standards are met in deal processing; these include client service, timely processing, thorough due diligence and substantive quality of processing documents and the data therein and in IFC systems.

Selection Criteria:
- A Master s Degree in finance or business or equivalent professional qualification and a minimum of 8 to 12 years of professional, relevant experience with a high preference given to IFC experience; - Significant investment transaction experience, with proven success in developing client relationships as well as structuring and processing quality investments. Good “deal sense” based on demonstrated strong analytical skills and sound business judgment; - Appropriate sectoral experience and expertise; - A positive reputation as a team player and leader; - Strong written and verbal communications skills; - Ability to lead and work through teams, deliver high quality work within deadlines and to meet team objectives; and - Ability to work effectively within a Regional/Cluster matrix to meet collective objectives and resolve differences across organizational boundaries.
