National and International Consultants to deliver Gender Mainstreaming Training for UN staff in Viet Nam.

Promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment is part of the UN mandate and is recognized as essential to achieve positive development outcomes. In 2009, the UN Country Team adopted a Gender Mainstreaming Strategy (2009-2011), to strengthen the capacity of the UN in Viet Nam to support national priorities for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The Strategy aims to increase awareness and capacity of UN staff to undertake gender mainstreaming as well as to strengthen gender mainstreaming in One Plan implementation.
A team of two consultants (one national and one international) is sought to develop and deliver gender mainstreaming training for UN staff. Two, two-day training sessions will be delivered in Ha Noi, Viet Nam in late March or early April 2010 followed by two, half-day follow-up reflection sessions by September 2010.
The international consultant will be responsible for providing international expertise in gender mainstreaming training in a cross-cultural environment and will finalize the training report. Training materials will be developed jointly and the international consultant will lead the preparation of training materials and delivery of the training with the assistance of the national consultant.
The national consultant will be responsible for contextualizing the training material for Viet Nam and providing advice on case studies and contributing to the final training report. The materials and format of the reflection session will be developed jointly with the international consultant.
